Things that make me feel like a Londoner:
1) Navigating the Tube without pulling out a map (furtive glances at the wall don't count!).
2) Carrying a normal bag around town instead of a giant backpack or fannypack.
3) Eating a lunch of taoouk lying in the grass in Kensington Gardens.
4) Unconsciously changing my pronunciations in conversation.
5) Not instantly taking the wrong turn every time I come out of a Tube station.
Things that make me feel like a tourist:
1) Wearing a shirt that says 'Montana.' Incidentally, this makes me feel like a tourist when I'm in Montana, too.
2) Walking down the street, turning my map every which way to try to get it to line up with the direction I'm walking.
3) Every time I open my big American mouth. Even if some pronunciations do change.
4) Not intuitively knowing the names of every street in the city, unlike everyone else around. Seriously....what's up the lack of road signage? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not....
5) Taking over 500 pictures in 4 days.
P.S. Looks like my daily posts are pretty long! My Ireland posts won't be so long....or they will be, but they'll be less frequent. : ) I guess while I'm here in London, pretty much all I'm doing is going out all day long....and I get really excited about writing it all down. : ) Sorry!
