Here are a couple discoveries, gleaned from things I've tried since arriving in Europe:
On the Irish front (granted, all of these are available in the States)....
- I do not like Guinness. I don't really like beer, so that's part of it. It wasn't as, say, repulsive as the first beer I ever had, but not overly pleasant. I did, however, drink the entire pint, out of the principle of the thing. Hey, I'm Irish.
- I like Jameson's (whiskey), by itself or with Coke.
- I like Bailey's (Irish cream) - something highly recommended to me beforehand.
- I like Bulmer's (hard cider - Magner's in the U.S.) - and, actually, this gets classified as beer, so there....I guess there is a beer (sort of) I like. (Corona's okay, but yeah....just not much a fan.)
On the non-Irish front, a couple random notes....I would recommend Smirnoff Ice for those who don't like to taste any alcohol at all. It tastes like 7-Up. And I learned in London that I really don't like Merlot. I had dinner at a nice Italian place one night - aren't you supposed to have wine with Italian? And Merlot was the first word that came to mind....yep.
Basically, I like things that don't taste as alcoholic, lol. Well, Jameson's being the exception, I guess - it is whiskey, after all.
Anyways, there's the report from the pub front. Oh, and it's freakin' expensive. How could anyone afford to go out night after night? Oh, and don't worry about me. I'm not getting into any trouble with it. : )
Signing off,
The Pubber (as Stace called me)
